Breast Augmenation Side Effects Risk and Recovery

There’s a big risk for many women that are considering breast augmentation (aka breast implant surgery) – Is it using silicone implants safe enough? I will cover the hazards, Side effects and recovery for breast augmentation.
Unfortunately, there’s no straight answer for that and the FDA is testing nowadays the connection between the rare lipoma cancer to silicone implants. Beyond that like in every surgeon procedure there are side effects and hazards that you should be aware off – mostly so you can deal with them at the earliest if they occur.

    Risk

    Hazards
Infection – In order to avoid infection, the surgeon should provide you with anti-biotics during the surgery, but sometimes this doesn’t help and you might suffer from severe pains, Local erythema around the breast and your body heat will raise. In that case, you should approach to the operating doctor immediately for anti-biotic treatment. If that won’t help you will have to remove the silicone implant for the body to heal and can only set it back after few months.
Distorting in the shape of the breast – Distortion in the shape of your breast could be caused due to a connective tissue scar that wraps the implant, creating a little box form around it. That “box” causes the breast to get harden and in worse cases distort its shape and look. If this side effect distorts the shape of your breast or causes pain the “box” could be cut down and sometimes the implant should be replaced.
Asymmetry – Asymmetry between the two breasts is happening when one breast is higher than the other, this is usually because of wrong placement of the implant and in this case, there’s need in another surgery.
Internal Bleeding – Internal bleeding from the area that the implant was inserted to usually absorbs himself. Larger bleeding could cause swelling and hardening of the breast. In case of major internal bleeding there’s a need to drain the bleeding by opening in the area and removing the implant. The “warning sign” of internal bleeding is severe and sharp pains in the area.
Rupture of the silicone – While the silicone implants are very durable, sometimes this happens and this is mainly due to the many movements of the breasts and fatigue of the material. The silicone shell get ruptured and the silicone could leak out, the feeling in this case is of soft breast or harder breast – then it should be opened and the implant should be replaced.

    Side Effects

Hard Breasts – Due to the swelling and edema breasts will be higher and harder than usual, this side effect should pass within few weeks.
Hypersensitivity – After your surgery the breasts will be very sensitive to the touch and there are cases where this phenomenon is reversed and the breasts are getting numb and completely lose their sensitivity, or one breast is more sensitive than the other. All these symptoms disappears within few weeks.
Stretched skin – The skin that once wrapped a smaller amount of breast today wraps a larger amount of the beast and therefore more tense is applied which causes it to be more stretched and shiny. After a while your breast should get used to the new situation and will recover to the regular form.
Aching muscles – The muscles of your chest will be sore after the first few days of the surgery.
Heaviness feeling – You might feel heaviness on your body, the new breasts are heavier and you’ll have to get used to it.

    Recovery

The Recovery after a breast augmentation surgery is pretty simple, usually it’s about a week off from work and activity and resting and three upcoming weeks later without exercise.
As in any other recovery process, be sure to listen to your body and his needs and if you still feel tired and week after a week of resting take some more time to stay home and rest.
Be sure to follow your doctor’s guidelines and directions and make sure you do not do things that might get your blood pressure higher. As well you will need to do few gentle massages or deep tissue massages to improve the blood circulation and reduce the swelling and edema of the area
