A little History about Scary movies
Scary
movies or what we sometimes call thriller, horror or some science
fiction flicks have been being made for a long time. We have many great
pioneers in the movie business such as the late great Wes Craven and
John Carpenter. Wikipedia: "Wesley Earl "Wes" Craven is an American film
director, writer, producer, and actor known for his work on horror
films, particularly slasher films. John Howard Carpenter is an American
film director, screenwriter, producer, editor and composer. Although
Carpenter has worked in numerous film genres, he is most commonly
associated with horror and science fiction films from the 1970s and
1980s." Wikipedia. There are many more good writers, producers and
directors who have helped in great magnitude to make the horror and
scary movie industry worth the thrill.
1. Lights Camera Action and More Lights
If
you are one of those goosebumps types, the type of person that will see
an evil character in a horror flick and then run and clutch your bible,
you should not watch those movies at nights. The night is famous for
people being scared even of their own shadows. The night is when all
creepy crawlers exit their rocks, caves and graves to suck on the blood
or soul of us scared little humans. Dracula is only effective at nights,
ghost prefer low lit, damp places to haunt and so does Aliens. For some
reason i wonder why even aliens prefer to abduct you in the night.
Seems fishy to me! When ever you are watching a scary movie and in order
not to be scared, watch the movie in a well lit area, preferable on the
patio or outback sipping on some "I am not scared lemonade."
2. One is Horror, A Few Brings Laughter
When
you are alone and watching a horror flick it is much easier to be
scared than have a group of people watching chatting and commenting as
the movie progresses. Make sure that there is a group clown there who
puts a twist and laughs to everything. Soon you will begin to look at
the flick a bit differently and find it quite silly that the monster dog
chasing the petite girl to have for supper is actually quite funny.
What the couch crowd does is to assure you mentally that there are
others around you and you are not alone. So your fear factor eventually
dwindles down as more people together brings a more collective and
stronger approach in any situation.
3. Get Drunk
Get a few bottles of beer, some vodka or some good ole' Jamaican White Rum,
have a few drinks and then pop in the most bad-ass scary movie you
know. The alcohol that your brain is under will reduce your fear level
drastically allowing you to watch or probably sleep through that soul
frying horror flick. There are a few drawbacks to this 1. You must be at home and not planned to do any form of driving whatsoever. 2.
Even though the movie may not be that scary to you anymore, you just
might sleep through the film or so intoxicated that you do not remember
half of the movie. At the end of the day, it is still a good way to
watch a scary movie without being scared.
4. Research The Film
Doing research on the making of the film is actually a thrill buster and will eventually lessen the movies fear factor to you. Go online and look up the making of the horror film, look at the cast and see the roles that they play. View how the created the special ghostly effects or the creation of the monsters. Once you see this it will automatically send an open eye alarm to your brain telling you that this movie is simply that, a movie with made up horror. You will have no fear in watching this horror film.5. Hear No Evil or Preferably See No Evil
Well,
this may be a bit ironic but, as the saying goes; what the eyes does
not see, the heart does not leap. If you are really so afraid of
watching scary movies, guess what? you don't have to watch that movie.
Turn that movie in just another radio program by simply listening to the
movie. As the saying goes, seeing is believing, what you don't see
literally your mind will not conceive. Fear is what we mostly see, and
if we don't see anything to be afraid of the mind will simply continue
to operate without the feeling of fear engulfing it.
Horror movies to watch without being scared using my methods above
1. The Descent:There’s
no overt manslaughter in Neil Marshall’s claustrophobic thriller about a
group of lady spelunkers (that’s cave-explorers for you non-cave
enthusiasts out there), but the very concept of a group of fierce ladies
fully able to do battle with some creepy subterranean albino creatures
should make guys just a little nervous. Imagine, just for a second, that
this film might be a parable for ladies taking their vengeance against
all real life “cavemen” out there -- emotionally stunted creatures left
completely in the dark when it comes to being able to show the fairer
sex a little class.
2. The Exorcist. The Exorcist has made countless “Scariest Movies of All Time” lists, and there’s a reason for that. The story of a girl who is possessed by a demon/the devil, and the priests who are trying to save her, has imagery and scenes so frightening, that some folks literally thought the movie itself was possessed and anyone who watched it was cursed. What’s so great and scary about the film is the otherworldly aspects of so much of it. From the possessed girl’s appearance and voice to the split second glimpse of the demon itself to the overall layout of the story, The Exorcist is a movie that did things that no other movie before it had even dreamed of doing. It created an entirely new brand of horror in “exorcism” movies and we’ve been getting a steady stream of them ever since.
3. The Last House on The Left. Wes Craven’s directorial debut feels a lot like a snuff movie. After two unsuspecting teenage girls find themselves kidnapped by a gang/family of criminals, brutal rape and murder ensues. The one scene in this low-budget affair that should make guys think twice about taking advantage of women takes place when the sinister crew coincidentally ends up seeking shelter at the titular house that happens to belong to the family of one of their victims. Revenge-fueled carnage ensues when the parents put two and two together and take out their daughter’s killers one by one.
4.The Conjouring. In 1970, paranormal investigators and demonologists Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) Warren are summoned to the home of Carolyn (Lili Taylor) and Roger (Ron Livingston) Perron. The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known. Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house's macabre history. source.(wikipedia)
The methods given to you will certainly help you in swallowing some of those scary and horrific stuff that the producers put together to scare the black, brown, yellow or white off you. Soon you will be watching all scary movies and laughing as though Miley Sirus was trying to twerk for you. Happy Horror Watching!
